 PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AMBASSADOR ENIKANOLAIYE ON HIS BIRTHDAY   President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, on his birthday.    A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, indicates that the President describes Ambassador Enikanolaiye as a distinguished diplomat, accomplished administrator and dedicated public servant whose career reflects professionalism, patriotism and a deep commitment to Nigeria.   Ambassador Enikanolaiye served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1982 to August 2017, rising through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary. TENSIONS FLARED IN DIGBOI, ASSAM’S DIBRUGARH DISTRICT, AS A LOCAL BJP WORKER, KALPAJYOTI PHUKAN, WAS PUBLICLY SHAVED BY ENRAGED LOCALS IN TINGRAI MARKET.(PHOTO).

 Tensions flared in Digboi, Assam’s Dibrugarh district, as a local BJP worker, Kalpajyoti Phukan, was publicly shaved by enraged locals in Tingrai market.

 The incident followed a viral phone conversation that angered the Moran community amid growing friction over the upcoming panchayat elections.


The controversy began with a viral video showing independent candidate Junmoni Moran from Ward No. 7 of Borhapjan Panchayat confronting BJP MLA Suren Phukan, accusing him of violating the model code of conduct. The video gained wide attention across social media and news outlets.


Following this, Phukan’s supporters lodged an FIR against Junmoni Moran at Doomdooma Police Station, leading to her arrest and detention. While she was in custody, a separate audio clip emerged featuring a heated conversation between Congress leader Lachit Moran (alias Rajiv) and Nani Gopal Dutta, an aide to MLA Phukan. In the call, BJP worker Kalpajyoti Phukan was heard questioning Lachit Moran’s presence in Tingrai, which was perceived as threatening.


The recording provoked strong backlash from the Moran community. Locals dragged Phukan from his Bogapani home to the Tingrai market, where they forcibly shaved his head in protest. The video of the incident went viral, prompting police to intervene. A scuffle broke out between police and locals, and one individual, Akash Moran, was detained for allegedly inciting the protest. “We are conducting a preliminary investigation and cannot share further details at this moment,” said a police official.
