 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. THE PRINCESS OF WALES HAS PRESENTED THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II AWARD FOR BRITISH DESIGN TO PATRICK MCDOWELL AT THE BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL IN LONDON.(PHOTOS).


 The Princess of Wales has presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to Patrick McDowell at the British Fashion Council in London.


First presented by The late Queen at London Fashion Week in 2018, the Award recognises the role of British design and fashion in the country’s culture and trade.


Each year, the Award is presented to an emerging British fashion designer who shows exceptional talent and originality, whilst demonstrating value to the community and strong sustainable policies.


In 2018, Queen Elizabeth II joined Anna Wintour on the front row at London Fashion Week, before presenting Richard Quinn with the inaugural Award.


In 2019, The Queen (as Duchess of Cornwall) presented the Award to Bethany Williams.


In 2020, The Princess Royal presented the Award to Rosh Mantani.


In 2021, The Duchess of Edinburgh (as Countess of Wessex) virtually presented Priya Ahluwalia with the Award.


In 2022, The Princess of Wales (as Duchess of Cambridge) presented the Award to Saul Nash.


In 2023, The King presented Foday Dumbuya with the Award.


Last year, in 2024, The Duchess of Edinburgh presented the Award to Steven Stokey-Daley.
