Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Undocumented Foreign National Arrested with Drugs Worth R150,000 in Mokopane


A 38-year-old foreign national has been arrested after being found in possession of drugs worth around R150,000 in Mokopane.


On Friday, 9 May 2025, at about 15:30, the Provincial Organised Crime Unit acted on a tip-off about a man allegedly selling drugs in the area. The suspect was reportedly using a white Volkswagen Polo with Limpopo plates.


Police, with the help of a private security company, spotted the vehicle on Thabo Mbeki Street. When the suspect noticed the officers, he tried to drive away, leading to a short chase.


The car was stopped and searched. A box containing Kat drugs was found on the passenger seat. The suspect was arrested on the spot and faces charges of drug dealing and possession.


He is expected to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate's Court on Monday, 12 May 2025.
