Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed.  WORKERS DAY: BENUE INDIGENOUS CONTRACTORS PROTEST NON PAYMENT OF CONTRACT SUMS IN MAKURDI

1st May, 2025

Earlier today, Benue indigenous contractors took to streets in protest of the non payment of contract sums by the Alia-led Benue State Government. According to the contractors, they had an agreement with the Office of the Governor through Bureau of Agricultural Mechanization and Development to supply agricultural inputs in the 2024 cropping season.

According to Terver Akor, one of the contractors, these contracts, award letters for which are available, were given out with zero mobilization and executed 100%. For more than a year, the governor has vehemently refused to honour his side of the agreement. Some contractors got ill and others even died in the fight for their rights.

On this premise, they call on the Rev. Fr. Alia to return honour to whom honour is due by paying them their due, emphasizing that they now live on the Goodwills of their benefactors.
