According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, they responded to a call on Saturday, June 7th from a woman who frantically said she had been kidnapped and forced to perform s*xual acts while being held at gunpoint. That is just part of the harrowing ordeal she survived.
According to the survivor, she was riding in a vehicle with Deonte Coleman when the two began to argue. She claimed Coleman became enraged and struck her very hard several times in the back of the head. He then callously strangled the terrified victim until she lost consciousness.
The victim said when she regained consciousness, Coleman was completely nude and holding a firearm at her. Coleman then forced her to perform s*xual acts while holding her at gunpoint. She said she was terrified and felt completely trapped and helpless as Coleman had taken her cellphone and keys. She had no clue how she could escape this nightmare.
However, at some point when she got the chance, the survivor bailed out of the moving vehicle in order to escape Coleman. She was then able to place a call to 911. It is unknown if she was able to grab her own phone or if she used someone else's phone.
Responding officers reported there were obvious signs the victim had been severely strangled and they reported she was still having trouble breathing when they made contact with her.
Deonte Coleman was eventually tracked down and arrested. He is being charged with kidnapping, first-degree strangulation and first-degree s*xual ab***.
Deonte Coleman is being held in the Christian County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Many individuals in the community do not feel this bond is high enough.
We are so proud of this woman for having the bravery and quick thinking skills that she had during this nightmarish incident. We are very happy she is still with us.
