Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. A SURVIVOR OF LAST MONTHS DEADLY TORNADOES IN LONDON, KENTUCKY HAS TAKEN DOWN HER GOFUNDME ME AFTER A POLICE PROBE DELVES INTO THE VALIDITY OF THE CLAIMS.(PHOTO).

A survivor of last months deadly tornadoes in London, Kentucky has taken down her GoFundMe me after a police probe delves into the validity of the claims.

Sierra Barnes took to social media, sharing a GoFundMe to help rebuild her family's lives after she alleged they suffered major setbacks in the aftermath of the storms.

Sierra claims she was heading home to London from Lexington after being at her mother-in-laws side as she passed away. Upon hearing of the tornado, Sierra said she turned around and headed back to the safety of Lexington.

This act could possibly have saved her life as her home was actually destroyed in the storms.

However, in Sierra's GoFundMe, she made claims that seem to have no basis in reality.

Sierra claimed that her boyfriend who had been  working 12 hour days in the wake of the tornado was told by the city of London he was going to be laid off.

However this claim does not match with the reality of the situation.  Every employee of the city of London said they "never said they were laying anyone off, and are actually looking to hire additional employees."

After the probe by police uncovered Sierra's fraudulent claims, the GoFundMe has been taken down. I know everyone wants to pitch in and help people who are struggling afyer disasters, but before sending money you should always vet the validity of the recipients claims. This isn't the worst case we've ever seen.

Sadly, her home was destroyed. Police are uncertain why she made fraudulent claims about her boyfriend's employment.
