KADIRS Warns Residents Against Fake Revenue Collectors, Introduces E-Demand Notice As Sole Payment Authorization The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has cautioned taxpayers and residents of Kaduna State against making revenue payments without first obtaining an official E-Demand Notice (Pay Advice), warning that fraudsters may exploit outdated payment processes to defraud the public. In a public announcement issued on Thursday, KADIRS said the move forms part of its ongoing efforts to automate revenue collection and enhance transparency across the state.  The agency disclosed that manual demand notices previously used for Local Government revenue collection have been phased out and are no longer recognized. Abia Lands Commissioner Escapes Assassination Attempt on Okigwe–Umuahia Road

Chaka Chukwumerije, the Abia State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt two nights ago when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle along the Okigwe–Umuahia road.

The incident occurred as Chukwumerije, a key figure in Governor Alex Otti’s administration, was returning to Umuahia. According to his brother, Dike Chukwumerije, a trailing vehicle unleashed a barrage of bullets on the Commissioner’s car. Miraculously, Chukwumerije and three other occupants escaped unharmed, though their vehicle sustained significant damage from bullet holes.

Dike described the attack as a deliberate attempt on his brother’s life, highlighting Chaka’s dedication to public service and his alignment with Governor Otti’s reform agenda. “Chaka has buried himself in his work. He’s been selfless, focused, and fully aligned with the reform-driven government of Alex Otti,” he said. “Unfortunately, it is often people like him—committed to doing the right thing—who face the greatest threats.”

The Chukwumerije family expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s survival and reaffirmed their commitment to serving Abia State with integrity despite the dangers.

Security agencies are expected to investigate the attack, but no official statements have been issued by the Abia State Government or the Nigeria Police Force at this time.
