 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter.  ADEBAYO SALAMI'S 60TH ANNIVERSARY MOVIE PREMIERES JUNE 29


Veteran actor Adebayo Salami is releasing a new movie to mark 60 years of his acting career. Titled “Her Excellency," the movie will premiere on June 29 and will hit the cinemas on July 4, 2025.


The 72-year-old actor, began his acting career in 1964, and have featured in more than 300 Yoruba movies over the decades. His son, popular actor Femi Adebayo, expressed great enthusiasm at his father's 60th acting anniversary.


“Today, I stand with immense pride, gratitude, and joy as I celebrate my father—my mentor, my hero – @adebayo.salami as he marks 60 years of unwavering excellence in filmmaking," Femi said.


“What better way to honour this incredible milestone than with the release of his latest masterpiece: Her Excellency — a film that reflects not just his artistry, but the depth of his passion and dedication to this craft."
