 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Assistant DHS Secretary TriciaOhio Responds Sharply to Kim Kardashian’s Criticism of Trump Immigration Policy


A top Department of Homeland Security official fired back at Kim Kardashian Wednesday after the reality TV star described Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation raids as “inhumane.” 


“@KimKardashian, which one of these convicted child molesters, murderers, drug traffickers and rapists would you like to stay in the county?“ Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote in an X post directed at the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star.


McLaughlin’s post included mugshots and violent profiles of four illegal migrants recently nabbed in ICE enforcement operations. 


Among them, were: Eswin Uriel Castro, a previously deported illegal immigrant with criminal convictions for child molestation, being armed with a dangerous weapon; Gerardo Antonio-Palacios, a Mexican national with previous convictions for homicide and burglary; Antonio Benitez-Ugarte, another illegal immigrant from Mexico with a prior drug trafficking conviction; and Mab Khleb, a 53-year-old illegal immigrant from Cambodia with a criminal history that includes conviction for possession and transport of a controlled substance, lewd action with a child and battery. 


“These are just a few of the convicted illegal criminals who have been picked up in the last 72 hours,” McLaughlin noted.
