 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv.  Benue State Declares Public Holiday for President Tinubu’s Condolence Visit


The Benue State Government has announced Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as a public holiday to facilitate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one-day condolence visit to the state. The visit comes in response to recent violent attacks that have claimed numerous lives in Benue.


According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, President Tinubu, who cut short his schedule to make the trip, will commiserate with the government and people of Benue over the tragic incidents. The holiday aims to allow residents to warmly receive the President and his delegation during this significant visit.


The directive exempts essential service workers, including medical personnel, security agencies, and banking institutions. The government urged citizens to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the visit.
