CORPER AMONG THOSE KIDNAPPED IN OKPOKWU BENUE LINKS ATTACK, FRIEND RAISES ALARM

26th June, 2025

A serving corps member, Mhoonom Mercy Uju, has been confirmed to be among the victims of a recent kidnapping incident involving a Benue-bound commercial bus.

According to a friend who raised the alarm, Mhoonom had concluded her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program at the camp in Ogun State on June 22, 2025, and informed her of plans to immediately travel back to Benue State.

"She called me that she would be traveling to Benue immediately," the friend recounted. "Hours later, I couldn't reach her via WhatsApp or regular calls."

It was only after news broke of a kidnapped bus heading to Benue that suspicions grew. "I had no idea she was among the victims until I contacted her family, who confirmed the heartbreaking news."

The emotional appeal has triggered an outpouring of prayers and support online, with many calling on security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of all abducted passengers.

“Let’s pray for our dear sister’s safe release. There’s nothing God cannot do,” the friend urged.
