TWO DROWNED IN DAMATURU EARLY MORNING DOWNPOUR The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has confirmed that two people drowned in Damaturu, the state capital, following an early morning downpour. The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Isa Haruna and 18-year-old Abba Kyari. According to SEMA, the tragic incidents occurred in the Malam Matari and Pompomari areas of Damaturu. The agency said its Search and Rescue Team, working in collaboration with the Yobe State Fire Service, responded promptly after receiving distress alerts. However, upon arrival at the affected locations, rescue officials found that both victims had already died. Their remains were evacuated and transported to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Yobe State Specialist Hospital, Damaturu. SEMA has urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone communities, to exercise caution during heavy rainfall and to avoid attempting to cross flooded roads or drainage channels.   Court Sentences Gospel Singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi To Death By Hanging For Klling Salome Adaidu.


In a landmark ruling, the High Court in Lafia has sentenced gospel singer Oluwatimileyin “Timileyin” Ajayi to death by hanging for the gruesome killing and dismemberment of 24‑year‑old NYSC member Salome Adaidu.


He was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging by the Nasarawa State High Court for the brutal killing of Salome Adaidu.

Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of k!lling and dismembering Adaidu.

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, Oluwatimileyin, a gospel singer, fitness enthusiast, and content creator who motivates his followers on social media, was caught with a sac containing the sev£red head of Salome near a church in Orozo, a border town between Nasarawa and Abuja.

After his arrest, he led police to the remaining parts of Salome's body which had been chopped up into small bits.

He was detained and charged with one count of culpable hom!cide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria and punishable by death.

As court proceedings began, Timileyin Ajayi put up a religious act in court. During a court appearance, he was filmed praying in his seat.

On Thursday, June 26, Justice Simon Aboki ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and that the evidence established Ajayi’s responsibility for the gru£some crime.

Ajayi was then sentenced to de@th by hanging.
