 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Federal Government Postpones Paramilitary Recruitment to July 14, Warns Against Payment


The Federal Government has rescheduled the recruitment exercise for paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior from June 26 to July 14, 2025, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced on Wednesday.


In a statement, the CDCFIB disclosed that applications must now be submitted through the updated portal, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. The board emphasized that the recruitment process is entirely free and warned applicants against making payments to any individuals or entities.


The CDCFIB apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement, urging candidates to adhere to the new schedule and use the official portal for applications. Further details on the recruitment process will be communicated through official channels, the board added.
