 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.  Flavour N'abenia For Solution Fun City Opening As ANSEC Awards Contract To Build Rehabilitation Centre, Reiterates Commitment To Anambra Rebirth Programme


Several important decisions were made at the 12th meeting of the year of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), which took place on June 23, 2025, at the Light House, Awka. These decisions included:


 *Top Nigerian Music Icon, Flavour to Lead Solution Fun City Opening* 


The Council has fixed Saturday, 28th of June, 2025, as the day to open the Solution Fun City to the public and approved a foremost Anambra State-born Nigerian music icon, Chinedu Okoli, better known by his stage name, Flavour N'abania or simply Flavour, to lead a band of other notable musicians such as Umu-Obiligbo and others to the grand fiesta. The event is open to members of the public who wish to attend. 


 *Rehabilitation Centre to be Built* 


The Council decided to build a rehabilitation centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory, to address the state's mental health issues. This will allow those who leave the state's asylums to access rehabilitation facilities that provide all the services they need to fully heal before returning to their families and communities.


 *Government's Commitment to Anambra Rebirth Programme Reiterated* 


The Council also further reflected on the proposed Anambra Rebirth Programme and determined that the programme's blueprint should address a number of important issues to achieve its main objectives, such as the restoration of the Igbo Apprenticeship system (Igba Boi), the return to hard work and integrity, the criminalisation of obscenities, especially the flaunting of money, and warped ideologies of wealth without work.


 *Projects* 


The Council also considered and approved several contract awards, including: 


1. A contract award of N417,319,619.85 to Triseconds Resources Ltd for the construction and modelling of the State Rehabilitation Centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory.

2. A contract award of N72,598,200.88 to Achufusi Ventures for the relocation and expansion of the Solution Hub & Park at Aroma Junction, Awka. 

3. A contract award of N414,907,757.85 to Navigator Sign Ltd for the construction of an increte walkway and flooring, installation of kerbs, and aesthetic enhancement of the Ekwulobia Flyover. 

4. A payment of N340,936,079.62 to Hemebs Construction Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of a six-hall high court building complex. 

5. A payment of N790,241,598.42 to O Ben Developers Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of 17 unit dwellings (duplexes) and ancillary facilities at the new Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka. 

6. A payment of N62,867,234.16 to B & O Ltd for rate fluctuations on the construction of additional perimeter fencing, stormwater drainage culverts, and chain-like fences at the Safari Park, Agulu Lake.
