Nedra Talley Ross, last surviving member of The Ronettes, dies at 80 Nedra Talley Ross, the last surviving member of the iconic 1960s girl group The Ronettes, has died at the age of 80. Her daughter, Nedra K. Ross, said the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee died Sunday morning at her home, surrounded by family. In a social media post, she wrote that her mother “went home to be with the Lord” at about 8:30 a.m., noting she was “safe in her own bed at home with her family close, knowing she was loved.” Ross performed alongside her cousins Estelle Bennett and Ronnie Spector in The Ronettes, which rose to fame in the early 1960s after signing with producer Phil Spector. The group became known for defining hits such as “Be My Baby” and “Baby I Love You,” helping shape the sound and style of the era’s girl-group pop. The Ronettes achieved international success, including popularity in the United Kingdom, and famously opened for The Beatles during their final U.S. tour in 1966. Decades late...

 Igwe Omasi ,Ezenwaka Canvasse Orderliness Ahead Of June 11 Flag Off Of Election Campaigns

Ahead of the June 11,  2025 flag off of election campaigns in Anambra State,,the Deputy Chairman state Traditional Rulers Council representing the Anambra North Senatorial zone, Igwe Benjamin Okeji has called for civility and orderliness across political divides.


In a press statement in Awka,Igwe Okeji who doubles as the Traditional Ruler of Omasi ,warned against political hooliganism and brigandage to ensure  hitch free campaigns.


He urged all political actors to leverage on the sound security network put up by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to conpunct themselves creditably.


The royal father charged all security agencies to be at alert to ensure that criminal agents do not hijack the exercise.


Igwe Okeji urged communities in his area of jurisdiction to avoid being used as  thugs to destabilize the electoral process.


In a related development,the President General, Achina Town Union, Mr.Anthomy Ezenwaka disclosed that the community has set up a Political Action Committee ahead of the elections to coordinate effective electoral strategies that will ensure full in future elections.


According to Mr.Ezenwaka who doubles as the state Chairman,Civil Service Commission, the committee will ensure among other things,that eligible voters are properly registered by INEC for the upcoming elections.


He urged Achina electorate residing outside the community to domesticate their voting centres by ensuring that they come home en masse to participate in the voting exercise.


Under his watch,Mr. Ezenwaka announced that the door of the community is open to all political parties to present their manifestos in an enabling convivial atmosphere. He noted that he is obliged as a stakeholder in.the Anambra State Government to protect the interest of his employer who has established government's presence in Achina.


Mr.Ezenwska mentioned some of the impact of government in the area to include the rehabilitation of the Achina -Umunze Road and the Achina- Onneh -Awa-Amansea Road.
