The surprise visit, according to him, aims to assess the current state of the facility, which the Lagos State Government has earmarked for a significant reconstruction project.

The Commissioner lauded the hospital's management and staff for their dedication to delivering quality services despite limited resources, noting that the new hospital will catalyse development in the area.

He expressed particular impression with the high volume of inpatients and outpatients treated daily, especially given the space constraints.

Dr. Mustapha Adebola Quadri, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of General Hospital Somolu, who received the Commissioner and his team,. Conveyed his gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to quality healthcare delivery, pledging that the facility will continue to work diligently to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare services to Somolu residents, in line with the administration's T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda.

During the visit, Professor Abayomi inspected the proposed site for the new hospital building and toured key areas of the existing facility, including the post-natal, male, and female wards, theatre, accident and emergency unit, GOPD, laboratory, and the eye clinic, among others.
