 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

 Plateau Pilgrim Dies of Diabetes Complications During Hajj in Makkah


A female pilgrim from Plateau State, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, has died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the 2025 Hajj. She reportedly passed away at King Abdul’aziz Hospital due to diabetes-related complications, according to the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.


Her death follows that of a 75-year-old Edo pilgrim, Mrs. Danzumi Adizatu, who also died recently in Makkah after a brief illness.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
