A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village.  Police grant Paul Adefarasin bail, say stun gun recovered from cleric

The Lagos state police command says Paul Adefarasin, senior pastor and founder of House on the Rock church, has been granted bail.

On Tuesday, the police interrogated Adefarasin over a viral video showing him pointing an object at a content creator while driving.

The pastor had turned himself in at the Lagos police command headquarters.

In the footage, Adefarasin rolled down the tinted window of his Range Rover and pointed the gun-like object at the content creator before driving off.

The clip sparked angry reactions, with social media users criticising the pastor for “possessing a firearm”. Adefarasin, however, denied the claims.

In a statement on Wednesday, the police said the pastor was not holding a lethal firearm but a stun gun.

A stun gun is a portable, battery-operated device designed for self-defence. It delivers a high-voltage electrical shock to temporarily incapacitate an attacker, causing intense pain and muscle contractions.

While considered a non-lethal option, stun guns can still lead to injuries.

The statement added that Adefarasin had been granted bail.

“Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and he volunteered cautionary statement to the police investigators,” the statement reads.

“What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun, which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment.

“The pastor has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case.”
