 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Swift Action by TRU Leads to Recovery of Hijacked Vehicle in Soweto


On Friday, 13 June 2025, at approximately 19:05, Tactical Response Unit (TRU) members on crime prevention patrol in Soweto responded to a complaint from a hijacking and kidnapping victim. The victim had spotted his hijacked Mercedes-Benz C63s, now bearing false number plates, on Rathebe Street in Orlando.


Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle along with a suspect, who claimed he had purchased the car from a friend for R20,000 but was unable to provide any details regarding the seller’s whereabouts.


Further inspection revealed that the vehicle’s VIN, license disc, and number plates had been tampered with. The suspect was arrested on the spot for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and is currently detained at Orlando SAPS.


Well done to the TRU team for their swift and effective response in recovering a high-profile stolen vehicle. Your dedication to public safety is commendable.
