 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas. Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area.  Security Guard Arrested in Connection with N1 Shooting Incident Near Makhado


On 20 June 2025, at approximately 23:00, a 42-year-old male suspect, believed to be a security guard employed by a local security company, was arrested in Makhado in connection with a shooting incident that left a 28-year-old woman injured.


According to preliminary reports, the victim was travelling with family in a silver Toyota C-HR from Gauteng. As they approached the three-mile circle on the N1, their vehicle was allegedly stopped by an unknown vehicle. Sensing potential danger, the driver did not comply and instead executed a U-turn. The family continued driving before making another U-turn, heading back towards Makhado.


It was at this point, near the same location on the N1, that gunshots were reportedly fired at their vehicle, resulting in the woman sustaining injuries.


The suspect, identified as a 42-year-old security officer, was arrested at the scene. A Siga 7.62 rifle, believed to have been used in the shooting, was confiscated during the arrest.


The suspect is expected to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 June 2025.
