Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London.  Senate Confirms Ex-Deputy Speaker as South-South Development Commission Chairman

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, as Chairman of the newly established South-South Development Commission. The Senate also confirmed Usoro Offiong Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State as the Commission’s Managing Director, alongside 13 other board members and five executive directors.

The confirmation process, however, was not without controversy. The nominee representing the North-West, Tijani Kaura, was dropped after failing to submit required documentation and refusing to appear before the Senate screening committee. The committee, chaired by Senator Benson Konbowei (PDP, Bayelsa Central), noted in its report that Kaura could still be considered if he complies with the screening requirements in the future.

The appointments were finalized following the Senate’s adoption of the report by the Committee on South-South Development Commission.
