 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Senate President Akpabio Pledges to Resolve Rivers State Political Crisis


Senate President Godswill Akpabio has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to resolving the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, more than three months after President Bola Tinubu declared a six-month state of emergency in the state.


Speaking on Thursday in Abuja while representing President Tinubu at the commissioning of the Kugbo Taxi and Bus Terminal, Akpabio assured that the National Assembly is actively working to restore political stability and peace. He emphasized ongoing efforts to address the root causes of the crisis and promote reconciliation among stakeholders.


“We are determined to ensure that normalcy returns to Rivers State. The National Assembly will work closely with all parties involved to ensure lasting peace and progress for the people,” Akpabio stated.
