The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a 24-year-old suspected serial burglar, identified as Habeeb Suleiman.

He was arrested for his alleged involvement in a series of theft and burglary incidents within the Warah Oja community in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, according to a statement by the spokesman of the command, Ayoola Micheal Shola, in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of June 3, 2025, following a distress call from concerned residents who caught him attempting to flee with a stolen generator.

Prompt action by NSCDC operatives led to his immediate arrest and the commencement of a thorough investigation.

According to the statement, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a habitual and notorious burglar who has been a persistent threat to the peace and safety of the Warah Oja community, consistently targeting residential apartments and carting away valuable property.

“Following his arrest, a comprehensive search was conducted at his residence, where officers recovered a significant number of items suspected to have been stolen in previous burglary operations.

“Items recovered included four television sets, one Jincheng motorcycle, four laptops, six phones, two generators, two Mouka foam mattresses, charms and other valuables.”

The statement disclosed that the suspect has voluntarily provided a confessional statement and will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

The Kwara State commandant of NSCDC, Dr Umar Mohammed, has assured members of the public that the corps will not relent in its effort to combat crime and criminality across the state, particularly as the festive season approaches.
