 Girlfriend Arrested After Boyfriend’s Body Found Buried in Shallow Grave Police in Tzaneen have made a significant breakthrough in a shocking murder case at Morutji Village, Bolobedu South, with the arrest of a 31-year-old woman believed to be behind the killing of her boyfriend. The victim, identified as Isaiah Thomas Maphalle (42), was reported to have been killed and later buried in a shallow grave behind his home. Police were alerted after community members raised concerns, leading to the discovery of the body. It is alleged that the victim’s remains were found wrapped in a maize meal bag. A swift investigation led officers to the deceased’s girlfriend, who was arrested on Thursday, 04 December 2025. The motive behind the killing is not yet known and remains the subject of ongoing police investigations. The suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 December 2025, facing a charge of murder.

The Kano State Police Command conducted a clearance operation in criminal hideouts in some parts of Kano Metropolis, including Kano Municipal, Dala, Gwale, and Tarauni Local Government Areas, specifically Kofar Mata, Zage, Kurna, Rijiyar Lemo, Dorayi, Hotoro, and Sheka Quarters, between Friday, 13th and Sunday, 15th June 2025.


The three-day operation led to the arrest of fifty-one (51) suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs. The Command is fully determined to decisively tackle thuggery and its associated crimes.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, strongly warns against brandishing weapons in the name of traditional performances, including "Gangi," as well as displaying dangerous weapons on social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, X(Twitter), Instagram, etc. which encourages and recruits teenagers to engage in thuggery-related crimes.


The Command urges parents and guardians to monitor their children/wards' activities and report any suspicious behaviour as anyone caught committing such acts will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. Parents who conspire with their children/wards to keep such dangerous weapons in their homes, and blacksmiths who fabricate such for them will be investigated as well.
