TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, FOIL TERRORIST MISSION, RECOVER WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have recorded another  operational success, rescuing three kidnapped victims and foiling a terrorist mission during separate operations in Zamfara and Sokoto States. The operations, conducted as part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance security across the North West, resulted in the recovery of a high-calibre weapon, ammunition, motorcycles, military accoutrements, and other operational items. On 22 June 2026, troops on routine offensive patrol at Bagega in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State rescued three female kidnap victims who were abandoned by the terrorists as a result of sustained military pressure.  Tinubu to Confer National Honours on Select Lawmakers at Democracy Day Joint Sitting


President Bola Tinubu will confer national honours on selected legislators during a Special Joint Sitting of the National Assembly on Thursday, June 12, as part of activities marking this year’s Democracy Day. The announcement was made by House Spokesman, Hon. Akin Rotimi Jr., in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.


The joint sitting, where President Tinubu is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, will feature an address by the President, goodwill messages from former presiding officers of the National Assembly, and the conferment of national honours on select lawmakers. The event is themed “26 Years of Democracy: Renewing Our Commitment to National Development.”


Rotimi described the joint sitting as a significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, highlighting the National Assembly’s critical role in upholding democratic values, ensuring accountability, and driving national development over 26 years of uninterrupted civilian rule.


He called on Nigerians to use Democracy Day as an opportunity for reflection, renewed patriotism, and a collective commitment to building a more inclusive, prosperous, and united nation.
