 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence.  Tragedy in Osisioma: Bride Abducted, Brother Killed Days Before Wedding


A wedding planned in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area turned tragic on Friday, June 20, 2025, when gunmen attacked the bride-to-be’s residence, kidnapping her and killing her brother. The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. near Ariaria Junction, has left the community in mourning.


The bride, Uzoamaka Joseph Aliu, was abducted by unknown assailants during the violent attack. Her brother, Chibueze Franklin Joseph, who was actively involved in preparations for the upcoming wedding, was fatally shot. The wedding, scheduled to take place shortly after the incident, was immediately canceled.


Chibueze’s body has been deposited at Alanwemadu Mortuary near Arongwa, while the family is desperately working to secure Uzoamaka’s release. Residents of the community have expressed profound shock and grief over the senseless act, which has cast a pall over the area.


The Abia State Police Command has yet to release an official statement, but investigations are expected to be underway to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the abducted bride.
