Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. UPDATE: SIGFREDO CEJA ALVAREZ, THE MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING BELOVED "KING OF THE HILL" VOICE ACTOR JONATHAN JOSS, HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM JAIL AFTER POSTING $200,000 BAIL. (PHOTO).

A controversial decision that has left fans questioning the justice system ⚖️

Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, the man accused of murdering beloved "King of the Hill" voice actor Jonathan Joss, has been released from jail after posting $200,000 bail.

The suspect, who allegedly confessed to shooting his neighbor following a heated dispute in San Antonio, is now under house arrest with strict conditions including an ankle monitor, random drug and alcohol testing, and a firearms ban.

The case has drawn national attention, particularly after Joss's husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, claimed the shooting was motivated by hate, alleging homophobic slurs were used during the confrontation. However, San Antonio police have found no evidence to support hate crime allegations, despite witness accounts of the tragic incident.

The decision to grant bail in murder cases often depends on factors like flight risk, community danger, and strength of evidence. While controversial in high-profile cases, the constitutional right to reasonable bail remains a cornerstone of the American justice system. The ankle monitoring and house arrest conditions suggest the court is attempting to balance public safety concerns with legal requirements. Voice actors and fans worldwide are watching this case closely, as it highlights broader issues about community safety and neighbor disputes that escalate to violence.

Jonathan Joss brought joy to millions through his voice work, and his loss represents more than just another crime statistic - it's the silencing of an artist who contributed to American popular culture.
