 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Walson-Jack Leads Civil Servants in Thanksgiving, Calls for Renewed Dedication to National Service


The Nigerian Civil Service, today, held its Annual Thanksgiving Service at the Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja, drawing together Federal Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Civil Servants and religious leaders in a collective expression of gratitude and renewed commitment to national development.


The event, part of activities marking the 2025 Civil Service Week, celebrates the dedication of public servants and promotes a culture of excellence in governance.


In her remarks, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, expressed profound gratitude to God for divine guidance that has enabled the Civil Service to implement impactful reforms and enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).


She emphasized that the synergy of faith and professionalism has been instrumental in advancing the Federal Government’s transformation agenda, noting that every milestone achieved reflects God’s faithfulness.


Mrs. Walson-Jack acknowledged the unwavering support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in fostering an enabling environment for reform and transformation. She also commended the efforts of development partners for their technical and financial contributions toward capacity building and digital innovation in the Service.


Urging public servants to regard their roles as divine assignments, she called for renewed dedication to integrity, innovation, and compassionate service. She further emphasized that the thanksgiving service serves as a spiritual anchor for the week’s events, reinforcing the need for both divine wisdom and professional excellence in nation-building.


The Head of Service also praised the Family Worship Centre for its continued support in nurturing ethical leadership among public servants and charged all civil servants to return to their duties with renewed zeal, seeing their service as unto God and the nation.


In her exhortation, the Senior Pastor, Mrs. Sarah Omakwu, urged civil servants to serve the nation with diligence, embracing virtues such as integrity, hard work, and excellence. Similarly, Mr. Yakubu Adams Yola, Pastor in Charge of Church Growth, in a sermon titled “Benefits of Gratitude and Thanksgiving”, encouraged public servants to adopt a lifestyle of gratitude, contentment, and to shun complaints and ingratitude.


The service concluded with special prayers for the nation and the Civil Service, seeking divine wisdom, unity, and continued progress.


The Annual Thanksgiving Service reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government to repositioning the Civil Service as an engine of national development
