CHIKUN/KAJURU REP, HON. FIDELIX BAGUDU, ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS TO STRENGTHEN INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE. (PHOTO).
A former State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Taraba State, Edwin Ugwuja, said it is wrong for Enugu government to appoint DCP Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo (rtd), a Yoruba man, as the Commander of the Forest Guards in Enugu State.
“The appointment of a Yoruba man as the commander of Forest Guards in Enugu State is very wrong," Ugwuja asserted. "I am not a bigot, but the right thing should be done to avoid fundamental errors."
Ugwuja said a native who understands the culture, language, and geographical terrains of the forest ought to have been given the job.
“In the first place, does this commander understand the indigenous language and culture of the Igbo people?" he queried. "Even if he does, this job calls for patriotism and passion. An Enugu person who is committed to security will carry out this assignment more diligently.”
