 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.   ARMED HERDSMEN BEHEAD FARMER IN BENUE COMMUNITY

Tension has once again gripped Ukpiam community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a brutal attack by suspected armed Fulani militias who reportedly beheaded a farmer, Mr. Gabriel Vandefan, in broad daylight.


According to a Facebook post by Mr. Ango Japhet T, the gruesome incident occurred this afternoon at Tse Aghem. 


The victim had gone to inspect his farm in the company of a woman when they were ambushed by the assailants. While the woman narrowly escaped with her life, Mr. Vandefan was not so fortunate, as he was reportedly slaughtered and decapitated on the spot.


The community is still reeling from a similar attack barely a week ago, when armed herdsmen allegedly invaded the same Ukpiam area at night, firing sporadically and injuring several residents as they fled into the bush.
