 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  BOYFRIEND SHOOTS MOTHER OF THREE AT WEDDING RECEPTION 


A 21-year-old suspect, Shaka Vaughn Phillips, reportedly shot dead the 26-year-old mother of his baby at a wedding reception on Saturday. 


The deceased, Jenel Pollydore, had two children before birthing the third with Phillips. The couple reportedly lived together but due to constant domestic violence, they separated and she obtained a restraining order against him.


Eyewitnesses said the suspect approached the deceased at the wedding reception and shot her point-blank. The injured teacher managed to run but the assailant discharged another round after her until she fell motionless.


Police recovered spent shells from the scene and deposited the slain to a morgue. Investigation has intensified to apprehend Phillips who is still on the run.
