 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Dave Chappelle didn't mince words during his recent Abu Dhabi performance when he called out Palestinian-American DJ Khaled for his silence on Gaza.


 When an audience member shouted DJ Khaled's name, Chappelle responded: "For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now. And as a Palestinian, how could you be that quiet right now? And why are you so fat? People are starving. He's the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now."


 The comedian, who has previously labeled Israel's bombardment of Gaza as "genocide," also criticized Trump's approach to Middle East conflicts and ended his show with a powerful statement about being pressured to support Israel.


 This raises important questions about celebrity responsibility during humanitarian crises. Should public figures with platform use their voices for social justice causes, especially when they have personal connections to affected communities?
