A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulkarim Usman, popularly known as Ombamas, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep dissatisfaction with the party's current direction.
In a letter dated July 9 and addressed to the PDP chairman of his Wamba East ward, the former lawmaker expressed disappointment over what he described as the erosion of justice, fairness, and rule of law within the party.
Usman, who represented the Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency during the 9th National Assembly, said the PDP had lost the core values that once defined its identity.
“I can no longer remain in a political platform that has turned its back on justice and internal democracy. What was once a symbol of hope has now become plagued with internal decay,” the letter read.
His resignation is seen as another blow to the opposition party, which continues to grapple with internal divisions and loss of key members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
