 Chris Brown Avoids Jail After London Nightclub Attack, Gets 8-Month Suspended Sentence Chris Brown will not be going to prison for now after a London court sentenced him over a nightclub attack that left music producer Abraham Diaw injured. The American singer, 37, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, October 26, receiving eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months. His co-defendant, rapper HoodyBaby, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, 40, received a four-month suspended sentence, also for 12 months. Both were ordered to pay £1,500 in costs. The case dates back to February 19, 2023 at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London, where Brown admitted attacking Diaw with a tequila bottle. CCTV footage showed the producer being struck twice on the head, hit on the shoulder, chased, pushed to the floor and kicked while down.  SANWO-OLU MOURNS EX-LAGOS LAWMAKER, VICTOR AKANDE


 

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande, who died on Wednesday.


 


The Governor described the death of Hon. Akande, a lawyer who represented Ojo State Constituency I during the Eighth and Ninth Assemblies, as a shocking and devastating loss to him personally and the people of Ojo and Lagos State.


 


Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, on Thursday, commiserated with the deceased’s family, friends, and political associates, especially in the Ojo Constituency I, where the late Akande represented for eight years.


 


He said, “On behalf of my family, the state government, and the people of Lagos State, I mourn the passing of Hon. Victor Akande. The news of his death came as a shock to me. It was a great loss to his family, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the people of Ojo and Lagos State at large.


 


“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, political associates, professional colleagues, and members of our party, APC, on the passing of Hon. Victor Akande.


 


“We have lost a committed and selfless politician, who spent his life to serve humanity, particularly the people of Ojo State Constituency I, whom he represented at the Lagos State House of Assembly for eight years.


 


"He did his best for Lagos State as a lawmaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC during his sojourn in the Assembly.


 


“I pray that God will grant the soul of our beloved Hon. Victor Akande eternal rest and comfort the immediate and political family of the deceased with the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”
