Grealish makes Man City feelings very clear after brutal Club World Cup axe

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola decided not to take Jack Grealish to the Club World Cup this summer and his future has been left uncertain, but that hasn't stopped the England star from singing the club's praises

Jack Grealish has broken his silence on his future after being axed from Manchester City's Club World Cup squad, insisting he loves the club "more than anything".

Grealish has been cast aside by Pep Guardiola, who opted not to include him in their travelling group headed to the United States for the revamped tournament this summer.

A return to former club Aston Villa has been talked about, as has a move to Tottenham or Everton, but Grealish remains in the dark about his next move.

Grealish was spotted by a fan at a festival this week and was filmed giving a ringing endorsement of the club, despite looking likely to move towards the exit door.

"You know what bro, I love City more than anything. And you know what I love more than anything? City fans. The best fans in the world."

Grealish signed for City for £100m from Aston Villa in 2021 - a British record at the time - and initially became a key player under Guardiola.

He was a vital part of the team's treble-winning season in 2022-23 as she played 50 times and scored five goals.

But first team opportunities have dried up in the following seasons for Grealish. He started just ten games in the 2023-24 Premier League season and only seven in the last campaign.

When asked about Guardiola's decision to axe Grealish from his squad this summer, the coach said: "[Grealish] had a conversation between him and the club and they decided it was best [to stay behind].

"Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason why he didn't play last season is of course my decisions. We decide that he has to play. The club was honest, he was honest.

"We decide the best is to stay [behind] and have a place that he can feel like he can come back to be the player like he was in the year of the treble or all his career in Aston Villa.

"The fact is in the last two seasons he didn't play much minutes. He has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days, every three days and show again the quality he has."
