Senate President Godswill Akpabio has appealed to the people of the South East to sustain peace and prevent their youth from engaging in armed struggle against the Federal Government. Akpabio made the plea on Saturday during the funeral of Sir Albert Ikechukwu Nnamani, former Administrative Secretary of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (OMPADEC), held in Ikem, Enugu State. In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Akpabio emphasised that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere and urged Ndigbo to properly mentor the younger generation. “For Ndigbo, I want to plead with you to continue to maintain the peace and watch the youth of today. They don’t understand politics. They don’t understand development. You can only have development in an area of peace,” Akpabio said. Afrobeats superstar, Davido, said he has billions of dollars in inheritance waiting for him and that he cannot be poor again even if he stopped working. 


The musician said there are two versions of himself: the billionaire's son, and the hardworking songster. He said he chose to be the hardworking songster for now and not the billionaire's son. 


“I am regretting to myself for being hardworking," he said. "The individual strength and the type of mental ability that goes into this type of head.


“Especially when you have a lot of odds against me. I got to do it, men. It is another David. Get the f**k up. It was not for the money. I have got billions of dollars waiting for me. If I do not work all my life, I have got billions of dollars waiting for me. I love my job.”
