 Igwebuike Grammar School Awka Showcases Skills Acquisition Endowments 

Launches Maiden Skills Acquisition Magazine

The Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka one of designated smart schools in the state, has showcased to the world, its skills acquisition initiatives in grand style.


It was a delight to behold the college students displaying their skills acquisition prowess in bricklaying, electrical wirings,hair dressing,soap making,etc.


The state Commissioner for Education, Prof.Ngozi Chuma- Udeh graced the occasion and was overwhelmed with joy as she inspected the stands.


Prof.Chuma- Udeh rated the school very highly in proficiency in skills acquisition and academic excellence,and urged them to sustain their passion in developing their skills to become more balanced individuals.


She commended the Principal of the college, Mrs.Amaka Ifebili for her sound initiatives in keying into the global trend of skills acquisition and digitalization.


The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Ken Nwuba in a speech,charged the students to stay relevant in the society by embracing skills acquisition.


According to Prof.Nwuba, nobody is useless in life except if the person chooses to be.


In a welcome address, the Principal of the college Mrs.Ifebili appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo,the Commissioner for Education, Prof.Ngozi Chuma- Udeh, the state Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof.Nkechi Ikediugwu and all stakeholders in education in the state for their impactful contributions to the growth of the college which has recorded achievements in areas such as in the improvement of discipline among students,the pronouncement of the college as a smart school,repairing of the school buses,won first position in the Nigeria  Society of Engineers quiz competition in November 2024,won first position in the state selected schools for children's day celebration march past on May 27th, 2025.


The principal listed some of the challenges facing the college to include need for a new bus,raising the school fence for security purpose, provision of skills acquisition equipment,etc.


In a remark,the President of the Old Boys Association of the college of the 1984 set, Okey Morah (Esq) commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for adopting the college as a smart school and for his impactful governance which has moved the state to higher levels.


 Morah who represented an awardee, Mr.Bright Nwokoye also of the 1984 set courtesy of the college, expressed delight in the rapid development of the school and the inspiring skills acquisition endowments of the students fit for export,


Contributing,a former dynamic Principal of the college, Mr.Gabinus Ukah described the college as a pace setter which aptly fits into the smart school status it has been transformed into.


Mr..Ukah appreciated the principal of the college and the school management for uplifting the standard of the college taking over from their predecessors.


In their separate remarks, the state Secretary,Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Mrs. Benedine Anagor and Mr.Obi Moneke of the college 1993 set who represented Dr.Ken Ezenwa an awardee of the 1982 set, appreciated the quantum leap the college attained under its present leadership,and commended the school management for encouraging the students to develop their skills which are fit for export.


Highpoints on the occasion were the presentation of awards,cultural dances, and inspection of skills acquisition stands by  the Commissioner for Education and other education experts.
