 IGP DECLARES OPEN 2025 NIGERIA POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS’ CONFERENCE …Tasks PPROs on strategic communication, combating misinformation The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Monday, December 8, 2025, declared open the 2025 Annual Conference of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) of the Nigeria Police Force, held at the Police Resource Centre, Abuja. INEC ANNOUNCES SEVEN NEW POLITICAL PARTIES SEEKING REGISTRATION FOR 2027 ELECTIONS. (PHOTO).


 INEC Announces Seven New Political Parties Seeking Registration for 2027 Elections


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that seven additional political associations have applied for registration as political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing the total number of applications to 129.


In a statement released on Thursday by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission disclosed that it is processing the new applications. To streamline the registration process, INEC is introducing a new Political Party Registration Portal, integrated into its Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System (PFRAS). 


“This portal will make the process faster and seamless, replacing the manual method used previously,” Olumekun stated. He added that the portal is undergoing final testing and will be deployed within the next week. INEC will then provide guidelines for associations meeting the requirements to proceed with their applications.


The commission has uploaded the list of the new associations to its website and other platforms for public awareness. The seven political parties seeking registration are:


1. United Democratic Alliance (UDA)  

   Protem Chairman: Professor Ibrahim Modibbo  

   Protem Secretary: Professor Emmanuel Adekunle  


2. National Peace Congress Party of Nigeria (NPCP)

   Protem Chairman: Tahir Omada  

   Protem Secretary: Not Indicated  


3. Alliance for Transformation Mandates (ATM)

   Protem Chairman: Not Indicated  

   Protem Secretary: Not Indicated  


4. Democracy for the Citizens Party (DFP) 

   Protem Chairman: Mrs. Victoria Bature  

   Protem Secretary: Mrs. Teniola Harrison Nosa  


5. African Renaissance Party (ARP)  

   Protem Chairman: Dr. Adah Edache Obekpa  

   Protem Secretary: Dr. Femi Ajetunmobi  


6. United Democratic Alliance (UDA)  

   Protem Chairman: Amedu Ben  

   Protem Secretary: Hassanat Olatunji  


7. Future Democratic Party (FDP)  

   Protem Chairman: Not Indicated

INEC’s move to digitize the registration process is expected to enhance efficiency as the commission prepares for the upcoming elections. Further updates on the application process will be announced soon.
