 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  IRANIAN PRESIDENT SUFFERS LEG INJURY FROM ISRAELI MISSILES 


The president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, was reportedly injured by Israeli missiles during a top government meeting on June 16, 2025.


According to government agencies, Pezeshkian and a few other members of the Supreme National Security Council were injured during a meeting in Tehran after six Israeli missiles hit their location.


Pezeshkian was allegedly wounded in the leg and managed to escape via an emergency hatch. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and judiciary chief Mohseni Ejei were also at the meeting.


“The attackers targeted the building’s entrances and exits by firing six bombs or missiles to block escape routes and cut off air flow," the source said. "After the explosions, the electricity on the floor was cut off."
