Kaduna Government Unveils New Homes, Support Facilities For Victims Of Banditry

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has commissioned the first phase of the Qatar Sanabil Project, an initiative aimed at rehabilitating victims of banditry through the provision of homes, schools, healthcare, and empowerment tools.

At the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Sani described the project as one of the most significant moments of his life. He said the event went beyond politics and symbolized a deep personal connection to the pain and suffering of families affected by insecurity across the state.

"Standing amidst these newly completed homes, hand-in-hand with the brave families who have endured unimaginable loss, I say this is the most consequential moment of my life," he said.

The Qatar Sanabil Project is a partnership between the Kaduna State Government and Qatar Charity. It includes newly built houses, a fully equipped school, a health clinic, and a shopping mall—all designed to help rebuild the lives of those displaced by violence.

Sani emphasized that the project is not just about infrastructure, but a solemn act of healing and restoration.

"This is not merely a ceremony. It is a vow honored, a covenant fulfilled. We are telling every widow, every orphan, every displaced soul: you are not forgotten. You are seen. You are honored."

In addition to housing and social infrastructure, the initiative also provides various empowerment tools such as tricycles, cargo bikes, salon kits, grinding machines, and welding equipment. These are intended to help affected individuals rebuild their livelihoods and regain economic independence.

"True empowerment lies in enabling people to stand on their feet with pride and purpose," the governor said.

He praised Qatar Charity for its commitment to humanitarian causes and said the partnership is built on shared values of compassion, dignity, and social justice.

"This collaboration is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about expanding opportunity and restoring hope."

Governor Sani also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and other key security personnel for their support in stabilizing the state, especially through the Kaduna Peace Model, a locally driven approach to conflict resolution and community engagement.

He gave special thanks to Ambassador Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, the Qatari envoy to Nigeria, and Sheikh Hamdi Abdu, Qatar Charity's Country Director, for their roles in bringing the project to life.

Looking ahead, Sani assured the people of Kaduna that this is only the beginning. He said future phases will include more housing, educational facilities, clinics, and support services.

"Phase One is just the foundation. More homes will rise. More children will go to school. More families will rebuild their lives. This journey of reconstruction is just beginning."

The full Qatar Sanabil Project is expected to benefit over 500,000 vulnerable people across Kaduna State.
