MARION COUNTY, ILLINOIS- A FORMER ELECTED OFFICIAL HAS BEEN DENIED PRETRIAL RELEASE FOLLOWING SEVEN FELONY COUNTS OF CHILD ABUSE. (PHOTO).

Marion county, Illinois- a former elected official has been denied pretrial release following seven felony counts of child abuse.

Troy Cannon, the recent former coroner of Marion County, just appeared in court at the Marion County Courthouse. Cannon asked for a medical release and was denied. His attorney argued that the children in question were in a different county and asked for his client to be released, however this was denied due to the earlier finding of the court that Cannon should remain in jail due to all available monitoring not  being enough to protect minor females in the community.

Canon has pleaded not guilty to the seven felony counts of child a****. He is demanding a jury trial.

Troy Cannon will remain in the Marion County Jail until his trial, and most likely during his trial.

His first pretrial  hearing will be July 30th at 10 A.M.

The second hearing will be August 28th at 1 P.M.

Jury Trial- September 8th at 8:30 P.M.

Amy Wahholtz went to the hearing and reported all details. We appreciate her work while we are out of town.
