 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail.  More than 97 Senators Endorse Bill For Anioma State Creation as an additional Southeast State 


The quest for the creation of Anioma state as the sixth state of the Southeast region has gained unprecedented support from no fewer than ninety-seven(97) Senators in the upper legislative chamber.


This follows intense lobbying by Senator Ned Nwoko, representing the Delta North senatorial district on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).


Nwoko, a key champion of the Anioma State movement, had addressed a letter dated May 27, 2025, to the Senate President and all members of the Senate, seeking their individual and collective support for the creation of the state.


In the letter, the Senator anchored the proposal on the principles of national development, equity, justice, and federal balance.


Among those in support of the proposed state were the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, the Senate leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, and 97 other members of the upper legislative chamber.
