 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  NASAWARA: DOMA CHAIRMAN DISTRIBUTES MOTORCYCLES TO SECURITY AGENCIES

The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Mr. Jonathan Okuba Addra has distributed motorcycles to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies. 


Addra distributed the motorcycles on Monday in a ceremony held at the Council Secretariat in Doma. 


Speaking during the distribution, the Council Chairman commended security agencies for their pivotal role in curbing crimes and reinstated the commitment of his administration to the safety of lives and property. 


He described the event as a significant milestone in their collective pursuit for a safe and secure Doma. 


The dignitaries who attended the event included the Vice Chairman of the area, principal officers and members of the Legislative Arm, representatives of the country's security agencies and some critical stakeholders who commended the Council Chairman for prioritizing the welfare and security of his people.
