 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  NIGERIA HAS FAILED - OBASANJO 


Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said “Nigeria has disappointed Africa and the world”. He said the country has failed to rise up to the economic potential it is capable of.


The former military and civilian president made this assertion during a courtesy visit from the southern leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to his Ogun State residence.


Obasanjo said Nigeria would have been greater if its current leaders prioritized national cohesion over sectorial interests. “What we need is a true Nigerian leader who cares for the whole country, ” he stated.


The visit was by former Ogun State gubernatorial candidate, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo; NNPP National Deputy Chairman (South), Prince Nweze Onu; and NNPP’s South-West Vice-Chairman, Chief Ademola Ayoade, among others.
