 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  ‎Obidient Movement plans one-million-man march in Abia to mark Peter Obi at 64

‎The Abia State chapter of the Obidient Movement has announced plans to hold a one-million-man solidarity march on July 19 in celebration of the 64th birthday of the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

‎

‎In a joint statement released by Dr. Chibuzor Obiesili, a coordinator of the movement, and Mr. Christian Emmanuel, head of its media and publicity sub-committee, the group said the march will take place simultaneously in four major Abia locations: Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.

‎

‎The event, scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m., will also feature visits to orphanages, hospitals, and correctional facilities across the state in what the organizers described as acts of empathy in honour of Obi’s values and legacy.

‎Osisioma Flyover, Aba

‎Practising School, Uzuakoli, Bende
