Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  One dead, 10 injured in Atlanta mass shooting

Police are investigating a mass shooting in Atlanta that left one man dead and 10 others injured on Monday.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said during a press conference that around 1:27 a.m. EDT, three men and one woman opened fire on a crowd in the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue in the city’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood. A 27-year-old man, Santos J. Wyatt, was killed, and an 18-year-old male remains in critical condition. Most of the victims, ranging from 18 to 29 years old, are believed to have been caught in the crossfire rather than targeted directly. The suspects are still at large.

Authorities also confirmed that another person was fatally shot in the city over the weekend. In total, 29 people were shot across Atlanta in 12 separate incidents of gun violence. Additionally, police said one person was wounded in a separate shooting earlier the same evening during a dispute in a nearby parking lot.
