Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  Pastor Adeboye Vows to Remain Unshaken by Insults, Urges Peaceful Conduct

In a powerful address during a recent sermon at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquarters in Lagos, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG, declared that no amount of insults or provocation would sway him from his commitment to peace and godliness. The statement comes amid ongoing discussions and criticisms surrounding religious leaders in Nigeria, particularly on social media platforms.

Speaking to a large congregation on Sunday, July 6, 2025, Pastor Adeboye emphasized his resolve to maintain composure in the face of verbal attacks. “No amount of insults will provoke me,” he said, urging his followers to adopt a similar stance of restraint and humility. “As Christians, we are called to respond with love and peace, not anger or retaliation. Our focus must remain on God’s work and spreading His message.”

The revered cleric, known for his calm demeanor and spiritual leadership, did not specify the source of the insults but noted that criticism is an inevitable part of leadership. “When you stand for God, not everyone will agree with you, and that’s okay,” he said. “What matters is staying true to your calling and trusting God to handle the rest.”

Pastor Adeboye’s remarks have resonated with many worshippers, who see his response as a model of Christian maturity. “His words remind us to stay focused on what truly matters,” said Funmi Adewale, a member of the RCCG congregation. “In a world full of noise and negativity, his calmness is inspiring.”

The sermon also addressed broader societal issues, with Pastor Adeboye calling for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. He urged his followers to avoid engaging in divisive rhetoric, whether online or offline, and to promote harmony in their communities. “Words can build or destroy,” he noted. “Let us use our words to uplift and heal, not to tear down.”

The RCCG, one of Nigeria’s largest and most influential churches, has millions of members across the country and beyond. Pastor Adeboye’s leadership has been pivotal in its growth, and his messages often carry significant weight in both religious and social spheres. His latest remarks have sparked conversations on social media, with many praising his resilience while others continue to debate the role of religious leaders in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

As the nation navigates economic and social tensions, Pastor Adeboye’s call for peace and restraint serves as a timely reminder of the power of composure and faith. The RCCG has announced plans to continue its community outreach programs, focusing on youth empowerment, charity, and interfaith dialogue to foster unity in Nigeria.
