SEXTORTION, CYBER BULLYING: COURT ADMITS DR. MKOR TO N30M BAIL BOUND
The Federal High Court sitting at Lafia, Nasarawa Judicial Division, has admitted the suspended Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Dr. Aondona Mkor to bail in the sum of Thirty Million Naira (N30m) Only with two sureties in the like sum. The sureties shall present proof of relationship with the defendant and deposit evidence of a registered company with three years Tax Clearance, ownership of a landed property with Certificate of Occupancy in the Court, all of which must be verified by the Court's Registrars.
Dr. Mkor is arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on five count charges bothering on sextortion and cyberbullying. He was brought to court by operatives of the antigraft agency.
The charge sheet reads in part:
"COUNT ONE
"That you, Dr. Mkor Aondona Donatus “M” 50yrs, sometime in September, 2024 in FCT, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, knowingly and intentionally sent messages via Whatsapp, containing recorded nude images and videos of one “O O”, communication which were grossly offensive, obscene, and of a menacing character, to wit: threatening to publicly disseminate sexually explicit images and videos, which caused the said Olatunji Olajumoke to fear for her safety and well-being and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 24(1) (a) of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention , ETC) Act, 2015 and punishable under same Section of the Act.
"COUNT TWO
"That you, Dr. Mkor Aondona Donatus “M” 50yrs (Whilst in your capacity as Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Research, Documentation and strategy), sometimes in April and May 2025 in Makurdi Benue State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, knowingly and intentionally sent messages via Whatsapp containing recorded nude images and videos of one "A A M," communication which were grossly offensive, obscene, and of a menacing character to wit: threatening to publicly disseminate sexually explicit images and videos, which caused the said Ag. Abi Mngu to fear for her safety and well-being and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 24(1) (a) of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention , ETC) Act, 2015 and punishable under same Section of the Act."
Dr. Mkor pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Honourable Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, the presiding judge, who admitted the defendant to bail however ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility pending the fulfillment of his bail condition.
The matter is, therefore, adjourned to October 13, 2025.
