Joe Igbokwe, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, has made explosive allegations against South-East politicians. Igbokwe claims they are orchestrating the ongoing security crisis in the region to secure political advantages.
In a fiery Facebook post, Igbokwe alleged that since 2015, some South-East politicians have been funding gunmen to perpetrate violence, including killings and abductions, to influence elections. He further claimed these gunmen are deployed to intimidate political opponents, settle family disputes, seize land, and even serve as personal security for these politicians. “They pay them,” Igbokwe stated, emphasizing the financial backing behind the unrest.
The South-East has been grappling with a deteriorating security situation, with near-daily reports of violent attacks and kidnappings across its states, raising concerns among residents and authorities. Igbokwe’s allegations have sparked widespread debate, as the region continues to seek solutions to its escalating crisis.
