 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  This is an attack on Igbos, Edo state Governor wouldn’t try this with a leader from Hausa land or a leader from Yoruba land and I mean it- Kenneth Okonkwo tackles Gov Okpebholo over his warning to Peter Obi


Speaking in an interview with ARISE TV this morning, Kenneth Okonkwo was asked to react to the recent comments by Edo state governor, Monday Okpebholo on the person of Peter Obi. 


Recall that the governor had said that Obi should never come to the state without getting security clerance from him. According to him, the last time Obi was in the state three persons d!ed. 


Responding to the warning given to Obi by the Edo state governor , Kenneth Okonkwo stated that l he sees the governor’s comment as an attack on Igbos. According to him, the governor would not make such a remark to any leader from Hausa or Yoruba ethnic divide.


He also stated that he will not respond to the comments of the APC chairman in Edo state in which the chairman claimed that the governor was right in asking Obi not to visit the state without his permission. According to the Edo state APC chairman, the people of Edo state hate Obi and so he should not come to their state.


When asked to react to this comment by the Edo APC chairman, Okonkwo said;


‘’Sorry I don’t give credence to people like that because they are just seeking relevance. He is as inconsequential as his face looks’’
